The meaning carried in our name.

In 1860, Yamada En'uemon began trading in Nagoya under the name Ozekiya. Born in Mino, he could easily have named his house "Minoya" or "Gifuya," after his birthplace. Instead, after long reflection, he chose a name that honored not himself, but something larger.

The "O" (尾) speaks of Owari, the land where he built his trade. The "Seki" (関) honors Sekijo, revered as the patron deity of his craft. The name was an act of service — to the origins of his work, and to the place that gave his business life.

That spirit of service has carried through four generations: the founding drive of the first, the patient wisdom of the second, the will to evolve of the third. Our goods have changed with the times — from kamoji hairpieces to cosmetics, and on to the front lines of beauty and health. Yet more than 160 years later, OZEKIYA Co. Ltd. still carries the spirit our founder pressed into our name — service to our customers, to our people, and to society.
